Proposed MTSU Budget Cuts

Middle Tennessee State University released on Monday its final budget cut recommendations in an attempt to save $19.3 million next fiscal year.

In the report, the school said it will look to save $2.9 million by reducing its staff, eliminating 48 majors and merging or eliminating some academic departments.

The total staff reductions could be 400 to 450 positions. The departments that face the highest risk of being eliminated are Physics, Geosciences, Philosophy and Criminal Justice Administration.
